Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to our frequently Asked Questions page. Here you’ll find answers to common questions about Direct Care memberships, office policies, appointments, pricing, and services offered at Beau Luxe Medical Wellness.
Direct Care Membership
What is Direct Care Membership (DCM)?
Direct Care Membership (DCM) is a membership-based healthcare model that provides an insurance-free, affordable way to meet your healthcare needs. Patients pay a low monthly fee and contract DIRECTLY with their provider. Just like other memberships -but much better for your health! It is simple with no hidden fees and no co-pays.
Our goal is to provide care that is convenient, accessible, and focused on keeping you healthy. While we do not bill your insurance, you may still use your insurance for specialists visits, imaging, hospital care, emergency services, prescriptions, and outside laboratory testing when needed.
Is DCM for me, and what is included with my membership?
Direct Care Membership (DCM) may be for you whether you have insurance or not! Since DCM is an insurance-free model, you do not have to worry about medical coding, filing claims, submitting pre-authorizations, etc. This allows us to spend more time focused on the patient. It’s the way healthcare was meant to be!
Some advantages include:
- low monthly rate
- same- or next-day appointments when available
- telehealth visits when appropriate
- direct access/communication with your provider during business hours
- in-office phlebotomy means no need to go to the lab
Is DCM the same as concierge care?
Direct Care Membership (DCM) isn’t concierge medicine, but it feels the same! The two models have things in common such as direct communication with your provider, membership based, and longer visit times. However, DCM is usually more affordable.
Many concierge practices bill patient’s insurance in addition to the monthly membership fee, and that’s okay. That works for them. The “direct” in DCM means we don’t do that. We cut out all of the overhead, and that works for our model. Furthermore, many (not all) concierge practices are affiliated with large corporations, while most DCM’s are independent, local, small businesses.
Do you take insurance?
No, DCM removes the middleman and restores the provider-patient relationship. We do not take any form of commercial insurance or Medicare. We do not submit any bills to any insurance companies. We strive to keep our monthly fee affordable. If you have insurance, you can still use it for outside testing and referrals.
Can I still join if I have Medicare?
Yes! You will need to sign a one time waiver declaring that neither you nor our clinic will directly bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will not pay us for any services provided by our practice. Your Medicare benefits are unchanged, and you may use them for any other medical care received outside of our practice.
Even though a DCM membership must be strictly out-of-pocket for Medicare patients, many choose to still join in order to avoid long wait times and hassles associates with corporate “healthcare”.
Is DCM a replacement for health insurance?
No. A DCM membership IS NOT insurance and isn’t intended to replace insurance. A DCM membership is a great way to make sure that most of your healthcare needs are met, but we recommend you have a plan for hospitalizations or major health issues.
The reason for insurance is to make sure you are covered in case of an unexpected, expensive event like cancer, a car accident, or other medical catastrophe.
This is DCM!
